What did I do to deserve this?????

Ok, so this is my first most obvious "first time mom" experience. The other day I had the bright idea that I wanted to stamp Lilly's feet. So yesterday I decided to take it to task. About 30 seconds into it I knew I had made a mistake, but what do I do? KEPT TRYING! Each hand and foot I stamped the more ink went everywhere. I only took pictures of the baby after the whole ordeal, you should have seen my house! The ink pad fell on the floor, the table got painted, then there was her bath tub, and the counter where I took off her clothes! So after I got her cleaned up (which took forEVER because I kept transferring it from me to her) I started to clean up myself. I looked down and there was a black foot print all over the kitchen floor. So I look at the bottom of my feet and sure enough, I had somehow stepped in the d*mn ink pad!! Needless to say, I realized that I was probably a new mom, because any experienced mom would know that this was a mistake from the beginning, better yet, would know not to even go down to the craft store and buy the ink. The last question I have for myself and those of you who read this is why didn't I find an ink pad that said washable? Why did I buy one that was permanent? Oh well, a few hours after it happened I was laughing about it. Josh always asks me, "are you going to do all this for each kid we have?" Meaning scrapbooks, clothes, etc. and I always say yes, but this time it is a dead NO! Poor little girl...

HAHAHA! That's hilarious! You should get one of those plaster molds that you can take a cast of her footprint in. No ink, no stains, etc. I have a sweet kit that you can do one for each year until they're 5 to see how they're growing. It's a cleaner way to preserve things like that.... :)Thanks for sharing that story. It started my day out with a good laugh!

Nat! It has happened to all of us one time im sure. You should have seen Haileys first christmas. I bought these cute little plaster of paris kits. They were an ornament for the tree that you were sopposed to put their hand print in. First I did Ashlynn and that was a breeze, she was almost
3, then I tried and tried to do Hailey's. Everytime I would put her hand into the plaster she would grab it and smear it all over everything. after a few tries I settled for doing her feet. It is these moments that make us crazy but then give us a pretty good laugh. You'll have many more of them to! I don't think us moms ever learn. In a few years it will have to do with crayons & markers, which I have banned from my house. As for what Josh said, you'll try to do the same things with each child but the more you get, the busier you'll get and it gets harder to remember to pull out the camera.
Hey, what day are you guys coming up here? Isn't raspberry days all week? We'd love to see you. Let us know, okay?!! Or.... if you'd tell us WHEN, we'd come see YOU! You are the one that just had a baby!!

That is sad and hilarious at the same time. Good thing you got picture to remember how cute she was covered in the ink. Like everyone else said...this is only the beginning. You'll have other oops moments all throughout her life. The important thing is that you learn to laugh at it and know it's all out of love!

funny stuff........Lilly, Your mom is so creative. She has so much spare time that she decides to let you play in permanent ink....when that wasn't enough fun, she decides to play in the ink herself. Hmmmm..... When I come to see you we can use my playdough and washable paint set....okay? It will be fun, probably not as fun as permanent ink, though!!!!!! Grandma K

Too funny!! Yeah, the foot print hand print thing is definitely a 2 person job, and truth be told, even with brad and I working together we still got ink in strange places. I'm so glad you took pictures!!
